Insane? Nous?

So here's what happens when Sophie and I stay up too late discussing knitting and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

WARNING: If you don't have a sense of humor about all the on-line knitting world's little controversies, don't read this :0)

"I've Got A Theory, Knitting Style" by Sophie and Summer

"All over Sunnywool, knitters are experiencing a crisis. They can't make guage, none of the row-counters are working, and all are experiencing intense pangs of longing to make Alice Starmore designs, but can't find the exact wool..."

Giles: I've got a theory
That it's a demon
A-crylic demon!
No, something isn't right there

Willow: I've got a theory
Some knitter's dreaming
And we're all swimming 'round her soggy frog pond nightmare

All: I've got a theory We should work this out
It's getting eerie What's this row-miscounting all about?

Xander: It could be pickers! Some evil pickers! Which is ridiculous 'cause pickers have tradition, and years of history less RSI and EZ likes them, I'll be over here

Anya: I've got a theory! It could be crochet!

Tara: I've got a--

ANYA : Crochet isn't cute like everybody supposes!
It's got those great big loops and patterns won't transposes!
And what's with just that one hook? What do they do with their other hand anyway?
Crochet! Crochet! It must be crochet!!!!!

Or maybe quilters...

Willow: I've got a theory we should work this fast

Willow and Giles: Because it clearly could get serious before it's passed

Tara: I've got a theory - -

Buffy: It doesn't matter
What can't we face if we're together?
What sort of dropped stitch can't we weather?
Mohair yarn? We've all been there
's just knit and purl, why should we care?

All: What can we do if we're not stitching?
We'll have to emphasize the bitching.
We have to try, We'll pay the price. Maybe we'll rip

Buffy (holds up a hideously complicated coloured, cabled & lacy fitted jacket in mohair boucle on 2mm needles): I've ripped this twice!

All: What can't we face if we're together?

Giles: What can't we face?

All: What's in this place we can't weather?

Giles: If we're together

All: There's nothing we can't face

Anya: Except for crochet...

Please do not pass this on to other people, but feel free to pass on this link.

Looking at this in the ::ahem:: Harsh Light of Day, I think we put an "and" in the wrong place in Xander's spiel... Oh well. No dramas.

Quickly! To the Angelmobile! Away!

What do they do with their other hand anyway?

bwahahaha

Fantastic! I'm a cross-stitcher myself, but I got this totally. Cross-stitchers miscount and have to unpick as well... grrrr.

Glad you like it, Sally! I started out in cross stitch when I was a kid. Mum & I have progressively claimed the lounge room walls which are now covered in our stuff. Some major Shepherds Bush samplers - and mine has a mistake which is the only thing I can see when I look at the bloody thing...grrrr... 6 months of solid work, and 5 years later all I can see is the skipped row on the bottom right side of the border.

Then there was the time with my Gen 1:1 sampler when I was up 'till 2am the day we were going to get it framed unpicking, re-stitching and re-laundering because the mermaids were one thread to the left and were throwing the symmetry off balance. On 22 count linen.

So I think you're right - there are some things common to all crafters. (Or maybe it's just me :-P )

Brilliant!

Most excellent. I just made a ringer for my phone of "I've got a theory, it must be Bunnies..."
Somehow this song keeps showing up in my most-played list on my ipod.
